Book Wrangler

We have a vast collection of materials that help the community live, learn, connect and grow. As a book wrangler, you will improve customer and staff experiences at the library by ensuring their desired materials are in the right spot when they need them. This position is available at all seven of our locations.

Responsibilities:
- Scan returned items to make them available for the next user.
- Sort books to their appropriate cart in the workroom.
- Return books to their assigned shelf location.
- Create attractive displays of new and popular material as needed.
- Shift books on shelves to make room for additional materials.
- Evaluate donated materials.
- Check order of shelved items for accuracy.
Required Skills:
- Ability to communicate with others and interpret directions.
- A positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to alphabetize quickly and accurately.
- Familiarity with the Dewey Decimal System.
- Ability to bend, stoop, lift, stand for extended periods of time and push a loaded book cart (not all at the same time!)..
- Ability to make a minimum commitment of 2-3 hours per week for a period of at least 3 months.
