“The future masters of technology will have to be lighthearted and intelligent. The machine easily masters the grim and the dumb.”

—Marshall McLuhan, 1969

I took a detour after library school in Austin, embarking on a career in usability and customer experience strategy with such companies as Dell, IBM, Lucent, and Razorfish. Being an undercover librarian in the high-tech world was interesting, but after ten years it was time to return to libraries. This job marks a homecoming of a different sort as well, because I worked here twenty years ago while attending UTA. By managing the library's efforts in the digital realm, it’s as though I’ve come full circle in my career and am heading around the circle again!

My guiding principle is to create our digital environment (including our websiteblogsFacebook page, Twitter feed, live chat reference servicedatabaseseBooks, downloadable media, etc) with you and not just for you.

Please join with us as we explore emerging technologies to not simply point to the library, but to actually be the library online!
