Renovated Lake Arlington Branch Library making a Splash in neighborhood

The Lake Arlington Branch Library, located at 4000 SW Green Oaks Blvd., will celebrate its new look with a re-opening event called Splash Day at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 17.

Because of the library’s proximity to Lake Arlington, an aquatic theme was chosen for the building. Returning library users will be greeted by blue carpet with swirl patterns, aquatic artwork, and a 200-gallon freshwater aquarium that, over the next few weeks, will begin to feature native Texas fish and plants. Renovations also include updated furniture, more computers and separate areas for teens and adult readers. Wi-Fi capabilities have been upgraded and more electrical outlets added to support the increase of laptop computer use.

The Splash Day event will include a ribbon cutting, tours of the building, and refreshments. Children may participate in a craft-related activity and interact with Chesapeake Charlie and Read the Bookworm.

Major donors for this project include the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation and Chesapeake Energy Corporation.
