November 5, 2010
ARLINGTON, TX—

David Jackson at Homeschool event

Home schooled students participated in a day of learning provided by a team of city staff at Arlington Animal Services and the Southeast Branch Library on October 29, 2010.

The 21 students from Matthew Road Home School group and home school co-op enjoyed a full day of fun and learning activities.

The students received a wide range of information from multiple departments within the City. Environmental Education Specialist Brigette Gibson, PhD., educated students on litter prevention, water quality, and ways to protect our city storm drains; fire Station #12 staff brought a fully equipped fire truck onsite and taught students about fire safety; Community Services Educator Chris Huff provided students with an informative tour of the Arlington Animal Services Center where students learned about the shelter and responsible pet ownership; and the students’ last visit was with Librarian David Jackson at the Southeast Arlington Branch Library to get information on animal books and other library materials, including DVD’s, videotapes and more.
