Graduation Celebrates Students at Arlington Memorial Hospital

March 17, 2011
ARLINGTON, TX—
Graduates at Arlington Memorial Hospital

On Wednesday, March 16th, eight employees of Arlington Memorial Hospital's Environmental Services staff graduated from Arlington Reads' Texas Industry Specific ESL class. The year-long course, designed for beginning and intermediate English learners, taught students healthcare-related vocabulary, basic math, and computer literacy.

“Now, I can check my email,” said Maria Romero, a student in the program. “I can check my direct deposit in the bank.” Results of the end-of-course English proficiency test show that every single student advanced at least two levels. Arlington Reads would like to thank Arlington Memorial Hospital, City Manager Jim Holgersson, and Mayor Pro Tem Lana Wolff for making the celebration a great success!
