Tax Help at the Library
Arlington Public Library has many resources to help you through the tax season. Visit your local library to get free tax help, tax forms (printing or copy fee may apply), or pick up books and other materials to help you complete your taxes. Library staff cannot give tax advice but can help you find what you need.
AARP Tax-Aide
AARP Tax-Aide is a free, confidential service which prepares tax returns and answers tax questions.
AARP Tax-Aide volunteers will be in the Arlington libraries from January 31 until April 16 to help low- and middle-income taxpayers (with special attention to those age 60 and older) fill out their federal income tax returns. AARP Tax-Aide also provides online assistance that includes a list of frequently asked questions and a form to email questions to Tax-Aide volunteers. For more information, please contact AARP directly by calling toll-free, 1-888-AARPNOW (1-888-227-7669) or visit their website. Tax returns will be electronically filed which promotes accuracy, safeguards information, and speeds up returns.

Local Tax Assistance
The Arlington Assets for Working Families
Free volunteer income tax assistance to low and middle income families that may be eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is offered by The Arlington Assets for Working Families, a partnership of the City of Arlington, the Arlington Human Service Planners, United Way, the Community Tax Centers, and AARP. IRS-trained volunteers can help eligible workers claim the EITC and other tax credits and receive refunds in 7-12 days through e-filing. To review income qualifications or for information on the closest tax assistance center call United Way’s information help line at 2-1-1.
State Income Taxes
Texas, along with six other states, Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Washington, and Wyoming, do not have a state income tax. If you have lived part of the year in another state, you might have to pay taxes there.
