Gadget Workshop and Petting Zoo - C
Visit our Gadget Workshop and Petting Zoo for hands-on interaction with Nooks™, Kindles™, iPads®, iPods®, Android™ tablets and more. Staff will be available to answer questions and share tips for interacting with your library through technology. If you already have a gadget, bring it in and we will show you how to set it up for library eBooks. Stop in and give something new a try!
If you are coming mainly for troubleshooting assistance or help setting up a gadget you already own, to get the most out of this workshop please ensure you know the basics of how your device works and that you have an Arlington Library Card in good standing.
Also do the following based on what sort of device you have:
- If a NOOK or SONY or other non-Kindle eReader, if possible bring the computer you'll be using it with along with connecting cords and power cords. Consider installing Adobe Digital Editions which you'll need to transfer eBooks to your gadget.
- If an APPLE, ANDROID, or other smartphone or tablet such as an iPad, make sure you know your App store password. If you know how, consider installing the OverDrive Media Console app on your device ahead of time.
- If you will be reading eBooks on a non-Kindle device of any sort, you'll need an Adobe ID. We can help you get one when you come, but if you feel comfortable filling out a web form ahead of time, you can do so here: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/membership/index.cfm?nl=1&nf=1
If you have a KINDLE, make sure you know your Amazon.com login information. If you have a chance, take a look at Amazon's Public Library Books for Kindle page and OverDrive's Kindle help page. Also consider watching this video overview of the entire process. Many people find that the video answers all of their questions.
Also consider reviewing these Getting Started guides before you come. It just might save you a trip!
